KLWCF COVID-19 Response Statement

During this period of heightened uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Foundation wants to assure its community partners, donors and grantees that we are working to do our best to provide appropriate support and leadership. We will continue to make grants and process payments, in keeping with current agreements and commitments.

KLWCF has both financial responses and non-financial responses that we are immediately implementing. Below is a summary of the 5 cornerstones of our “Covid Response Strategy”

  1. Creating Safe and Healthy Workplaces
  2. Implement Adaptive & Flexible Support for Grantees
  3. Mobilize a Response
  4. Provide Clear and Consistent Communications
  5. Support Indigenous community’s unique needs

In keeping with our obligation to be proactive in mitigating the spread and severity of the virus our offices will be closed with staff working from home to ensure our operations continue as seamlessly as possible. All staff can be contacted via email or leave a phone message please. See our Contact tab for all staff emails. Group convenings organized by KLWCF will be postponed, cancelled, or reorganized as virtual gatherings. Our Grants Team will continue to monitor community developments throughout this difficult time. Our Board of Directors will adjust priorities as necessary to help where we can.

KLWCF is establishing a Community Response Fund to provide emergency funds to provide immediate support for local charities whose core operations have been hard hit by the virus – either through increased service demand, or inability to hold event fundraising, or lead charitable organizations serving vulnerable persons. We are also giving emphasis to agencies that support less advantaged communities. We expect to be ready to accept grant requests for these emergency funds within 7 days. Please watch our website and social media for more information.

Kind Regards,

Tara Douglas, Director
