“Having a community dragon boat available to all residents is a great addition to our existing local summer sport programs”
In July of 2008 the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation was very fortunate to be the recipient of a community dragon boat. The gift of this forty-one foot long – 600-pound vessel was made possible through the generosity of Dragon Boat Canada and the Ontario Trillium Foundation as well as local support from community partners the Kenora District Credit Union, Andrew Paterson and family, K Sports Marine, Home Hardware and local carpenter Bruce Braun.
Operating assistance has been gratefully received by Kenora’s breat cancer survivor team: Dragon Tamers. “No experience is necessary to begin paddling. We have a steersman and coach available for each session. We welcome all participants; youth, seniors, corporations and lake residents,” Community Foundation President Don Parfitt.
