4th Annual $10K/10HR Giving Challenge Nets Over $50,000 in Endowment Funds

Potluck Feast

City Hall staff held a lunch hour potuck on Thursday, May 28th and invited other departments to either join them in the potluck or create their own department event. Participants paid $5 if they brought a potluck item and $10 if they did not.

Dunk Tank Challenge

Come down to the Kenora Recreation Centre on Friday May 30th to dunk a member of the Kenora Recreation staff. Event is being held from 8:30am – 4:30 pm, $5 for 3 balls. All proceeds are going to the Community Challenge. You will see a lot of familiar faces, get your throwing arm ready.

Boards of Directors

Diane Pochailo and Meg Cameron, Directors with the Community Foundation, are challenging all other Directors of Boards in the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Region. Please step up and match or beat their $40 donation to the Operating Endowment Fund or any other fund of your choice.

Group Litter Pick-Up

The City Hall is challenging their staff to donate $2, and to participate in a 20 minute litter pick-up on Friday, May 30th.

Chamber of Commerce Member Challenge

The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce challenges all of its members to match their $20 contribution to the Community at Large Fund. Our collective efforts can go a long way towards making the Kenora & Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation goal of $10K a reality!

Come to the Lake of the Woods Museum between May 27-May 30 and purchase our newest book “Lake of the Woods: Through the Lens of Carl G. Linde” and $5 from each sale will be donated to the Community Foundation.

KACL Bottle Drive

The staff of the Kenora Public Library is challenging everyone to donate a toonie or loonie for each book, magazine, movie, or other piece of library material, borrowed during the month of May.

Lake of the Woods Brewing Company Challenge

The Lake of the Woods Brewing Company is encouraging the public (age of majority) to come down and purchase a pint of their craft beer from 11am to 8pm on Friday, May 30th. For every pint purchased, the LOWBrewCo. will donate $1.00 to the Community Foundation.

Education Challenge

Brenda Chambers-Ivey is challenging all individuals working in the education field in the Kenora & LOW Region, to donate $25 to the Kenora and LOW Community Foundation.

Calling all Community Foundation Volunteers

Carol Fehr is challenging all Community Foundation Volunteers to match or exceed her contribution of $30 to any Community Foundation Endowment Fund.

Community BBQ Challenge

Jack Martin will be holding a community barbecue at the Kenora Soccer Complex on Friday May 30th from 5-7 pm. Proceeds to the Kenora and LOW Regional Community Foundation.

Kenora Baseball Challenge

The Kenora Baseball League will donate their Candy Jar Guessing proceeds for a week to the Community Foundation.

Parent Challenge

Triple Play is challenging all parents in the Kenora & LOW Region who have registered a child in any activity this year, to contribute $10 to the Triple Play Endowment Fund.

Talent & Time Auction

Firefly will be holding an in-house auction in support of the $10K/10HR Giving Challenge. Auction by email runs from May 12th through May 23rd.

Golf Challenge

Randy Seller is challenging all Kenora & LOW Region golfers to match his $20 challenge.

Youth in Philanthropy Challenge

The Beaver Brae Youth in Philanthropy Group has challenged all the classes at the school to contribute to the Youth in Philanthropy Endowment Fund. The class with the highest total will receive a pizza party. They are also challenging the students of Saint Thomas Aquinas to do the same.

Nature’s Inn Challenge

Nature’s Inn will contribute $20 per room booked between May 12 and June 12, if the guests say that they are friends of the Community Foundation.

High School Challenge

Darlene MacGilivray is challenging all Beaver Brae and Saint Thomas Aquinas High School parents, students and teachers to donate $10 to the Beaver Brae or Saint Thomas Aquinas Youth in Philanthropy Endowment Funds.
