Since it’s inception in 2004, the Community Foundation’s Annual Festival of Trees Charity Fundraiser has grown steadily in popularity to become Kenora’s premiere Christmas event. The theme for this years event is “Christmas at the lake” and runs from Thursday December 1st until December 3rd. Thursday night is seniors night, Friday night is the gala and Saturday is family day.

Held at the Lake of the Woods Museum over a three-day period, the Festival touches the entire community. Local groups, organizations, businesses and individuals come together and provide the imagination and decorations to turn trees, wreaths and gingerbreads houses into a Christmas showcase. Twenty-five live trees are graciously donated each year and provide an exciting visual and fragrant backdrop, immediately noticeable as guests enter the museum.
The creations are viewed by the Community and then auctioned as a charity fundraiser for the Community Foundation. The entire event is planned and hosted by volunteers and the Community Foundation extends sincere thanks to them for all their wonderful efforts. Special recognition to the Retired Teachers of Ontario, District 26, Kenora for their inaugural $5,000,support in 2006 which launched “Seniors Night”. Since that time Seniors Night has continued to grow and is now described as a “magical evening” by many of its guests. Each year the Retired Teachers of Ontario,District 26, Kenora continue to support Seniors Night through their gold sponsorship.
We invite you all to attend the 8th annual Festival of Trees, Christmas at the Lake. The event runs from Thursday December 1 to Saturday December 3rd at the Lake of the Woods Museum. All proceeds go to support the operations of the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Community Foundation.
