The work of registered charities and not-for-profits in the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Region could not happen at the level it does without the support of the Community Foundation and the funders who so generously give. These are real people with real stories, sharing the difference the grants have made in their lives and the opportunities they might not otherwise have had. - Judy Underwood, in response to the June 2016 Granting Ceremony

13th Annual Festival of Trees Charity Fundraiser Exceeds Expectations

The Community Foundation would like to thank everyone involved in making our 13th Annual Festival of Trees Charity Fundraiser, held on December 2 and 3, 2016, a resounding success. With the theme of “A Canadian Christmas”, we welcomed seven hundred and fifty guests to the event, which included a Gala Night and Auction, a Community Day with musical guests, Photos with Santa and a Seniors’ Tea. Seven Generations Educational Institute provided a wonderful venue with delicious appetizers for the Gala Night. Community Day guests sipped hot apple cider and enjoyed ginger bread cookies. The entire event netted $37,000 for our Community Leadership Fund.

We also acknowledge the terrific work completed by our Festival of Trees co – chairs, Lindsay Wenaas and Allyson Pele and committee members: Patti Edie, Debbie Koch, Evie O’Flaherty, Jodi Jenner, Meg Cameron, Chuck Manson, Jordan Rivers, Marj Poirier, Jan Brose and Leanna Wyer. In addition, we offer our thanks to our awesome decorator teams, generous sponsors, fabulous entertainers, auction item purchasers and guests.

We look forward to seeing you again at the 14th Annual Festival of Trees Charity Fundraiser on December 1 and 2, 2017.
