Announcement of $2 Million in Grants Milestone

In advance of their Fall Granting Ceremony on Wednesday November 2, 2016, the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation has announced that they will be celebrating a milestone, in having distributed over $2 Million in grants to the charitable sector in the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Region, since their establishment in 2004.

Community Foundation President, Dennis Alvestad far right, Secretary, Shannon Robinson and Treasurer, Claudine Cordeiro, far left, joined Community Foundations of Canada CEO, Ian Bird, and Rick Frost, CEO of the Winnipeg Foundation in announcing the news at a regional meeting in Winnipeg on October 22, 2016.

Both Community Foundations of Canada and the Winnipeg Foundation have provided significant educational guidance, mentorship and financial support to our local community foundation , since their establishment in 2004. Community Foundations of Canada is the national network for Canada’s 191 community foundations, with $4.8 billion in assets and $215 million in grants distributed in 2015.
