KLWCF June Grant Cheque Distribution | $216,000 Distributed to Community Groups

Kenora– On June 20, 2018, the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation (KLWCF), President Dennis Alvestad had the pleasure of distributing over $216,000 to thirty-nine (39) community groups.

Alvestad says “Every grant ceremony is a celebration of our donors and the many charities and volunteers who make our community richer by investing in people and the good work that goes on in big and small ways.”  “It was especially meaningful to talk to the volunteers that make our community a better place to live and grow.  I was so impressed with their passion and dedication to the community and the good work they are doing.”

The Kenora & Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation is very appreciative and thankful for the support of the Board, partners, donors, volunteers and staff in advancing the Community Foundation in our community. It is the generous support of community members, who make it possible for our organization to ensure that the Kenora and Lake of the Woods community is a great place to live. “Kenora and the Lake of the Woods area are blessed to have a committed and dedicated group of people who love this part of the world and want to contribute in a meaningful way to make our communities a good place to live for everyone” says Alvestad.

The Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation is a volunteer driven, public foundation, which accepts donations and builds on endowment funds – creating a nest egg that will always be there for the community. The investment income earned on the funds is granted to local registered charities that enhance the quality of life, in line with the donor’s wishes. Our catchment area includes the City of Kenora and the neighbouring communities of Reddit, Minaki, Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls, the First Nation Territories and the unincorporated territories surrounding Lake of the Woods. Since 2004, thanks to our generous donors, the Community Foundation holds $4.7 million in endowed funds, with total assets at $5.2 million. Over $2 million has been granted to over fifty different local charities.

The Community Foundation Office is located at Westland Insurance at 101 Park Street, Kenora, Ontario. Ms. Betty Wires, Interim Executive Director can be reached at info@klwcf.ca and by telephone at 807- 467- 4427.
