Marketing & Communications Assistant 2017/2018

Meet Kylie Hissa – the new Marketing & Communications Assistant for 2017/2018. It’s already been about 3-months since she started, but better to introduce her later rather than never!

Kylie is a Kenora local, and earned her Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Guelph (2015). She then went on to complete her Master’s degree in Environmental Studies in Geography from Wilfrid Laurier University. Kylie grew up in a family highly involved with the Mount Evergreen Ski Hill and saw firsthand how important volunteering and giving to the community is in order to make certain projects happen.

When seeking employment, Kylie was looking for an opportunity to build upon her current communication and project management skills to land a future job in environmental communications. She hopes to one day break down the barriers of environmental education such as having access to accurate (and understandable) scientific information. She believes in the power of communities and in the power of meaningful engagement. Most of her academic work has been shaped by this value.

Kylie comes to the Kenora & Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation looking to strengthen their engagement and marketing strategy. She is looking forward to working with all the many volunteers, donors, grant recipients, and sponsors who help make the foundation happen and all of the many opportunities it provides.
